Dr. Copeland of UA Cossatot guest speaker at Nashville Rotary Club
Dr. Thom Copeland of UA Cossatot spoke to the Nashville Rotary Club on Wednesday about the college’s Strengthening Community Colleges Grant.
Dr. Copeland is the director of the $1.6 million dollar grant. He said the grant will be funded by the US Department of Labor through 2027.
Dr. Copeland said the grant will be used to help alleviate barriers that may interfere with students earning their degree in Nursing or Education.
Dr. Copeland said grant funds can used to pay for child care, uniforms and equipment, housing expenses and travel expenses.
Dr. Copeland said Cossatot is investing in students who will stay in our community in order to serve in the medical and education fields. However, he stated the only way students can qualify for grant funds is to contact department facilitators and discuss their needs.
