Dunn speaks to Rotary about Mental Health
Rotary Club met Wednesday afternoon with speaker Telia Dunn presenting. Dunn works with Cornerstone Counseling which cares for over 300 clients here in the Nashville area including the Nashville School District. Dunn spoke on a number of topics as well as bringing light to May being Mental Health Awareness month. In her presentation she spoke to the toll that the pandemic has taken on us all – Such as the lack of social interactions especially concerning children and the importance of good coping skills. Here is Dunn now on the effects of Covid.
Dunn said Cornerstone Counseling has been working with various teachers in our area to be able to identify when therapy services might be beneficial – and also made mention of the increase in awareness of mental health and the stigma that seeking help often carries.
Again, May is Mental Health awareness month. It’s important to recognize that not all disabilities are visible and it’s ok to not be ok. Take care of yourself because as Dunn said, “You can not pour from an empty cup”
