Escape from Howard County Jail – Suspect Caught

A Nashville man has been charged with Second Degree Escape after briefly eluding jailers & police this week.  30 year old Kyrell Sockwell was in police custody Tuesday at the Howard County Jail, when he ran out of a secure door that had been remotely unlocked by dispatchers to allow worker access into the jail.

Sheriff Bryan McJunkins said Sockwell left the facility through the jail’s sally port & ran through alleyways, where he reached the south side of the former Pilgrim’s Pride feed mill.  According to the Sheriff, Sockwell hid in the area few seconds, removing his orange jail clothes.  He then began running naked along the railroad tracks.

The sheriff said he caught up with Sockwell & tackled him on the sidewalk at the health department, where he detained him until officers from the Nashville Police Department arrived & handcuffed Sockwell, returning him to the jail without further incident.
