Fall lands Nashville resident in jail

Nashville police say a 42 year old local resident has been arrested on a felony probation violation warrant.  Police officer Mackenzie Vermillion said he spotted the individual, identified as Jalavett Washington, walking in the 100 block of West Sypert Street on the afternoon of March 26th.  When Officer Vermillion attempted to arrest Washington on the warrant, he resisted and fled.  Police Chief Amy Marion said Washington ran down the railroad tracks and to the old Nashville Plumbing Building on Main Street, where he climbed on top of the building.  Officers then surrounded the building and saw Washington at the rear of the building, ordering to come down.  However, before Washington could get off the building, he fell through the roof, landing on the inside of the building.  Officers entered the building and took Washington into custody.  He was transported to the hospital by Pafford ambulance to be checked out for injuries received during the fall.  Washington was later transferred to the Howard County Jail.
