French arrested for vehicle theft

A Nashville woman is facing a variety of charges following a reported vehicle theft. Police Chief Amy Marion says 26 year old Tana French was arrested after officers responded to to the theft call at 500 South Front Street. Officers say Bill May told them that he and French were sitting in his car drinking & listening to music when they ran the battery down on the vehicle. May said they jump started the vehicle and he went inside the house. When he came back outside, French & his car were gone. Police say they located French and the car at a residence on North 10th Street. French was arrested at that time for a felony Theft of Property count and was transported to the Howard County Jail. While going through the booking process, jailers said they found French to be in possession of a green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana. As a result, French was also charged with Furnishing Prohibited Articles & Possession of a Controlled Substance.
