Glenwood Man Arrested on Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

A Glenwood man was arrested on drug-related charges Monday after an officer spotted him walking near Glenwood City Park. According to the affidavit, Officer Stacy Watson was patrolling Betty Street around 11:31 a.m. when Watson observed Daniel Cruz, a Hispanic male with whom Pike County officers had prior encounters.

Officer Watson recognized Cruz and was aware of an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. Watson approached him and placed him under arrest. During the search that followed, Cruz allegedly admitted to possessing methamphetamine. Officers recovered a baggie containing a white crystal-like substance, which they suspect to be meth, along with a blue straw that contained white dust.

Cruz was transported to the Pike County Detention Facility, where he faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The investigation is ongoing, and Cruz remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
