Glenwood woman charged with First Degree Battery

A family altercation last month near Glenwood has led to felony charges being filed against a Pike County woman. 58 year old Michelle Gilbert is charged with First Degree Battery. Authorities say Gilbert and her son had been involved in an altercation. The victim told deputies he and his mother had been using illegal drugs and when he attempted to leave, she shot him in the thigh with a Remington .410 gauge shotgun. Deputies said they also observed several holes in a closet door that was struck by the shotgun pellets.
