HMH Board of Directors approves purchase of rehab equipment
Tuesday night, Paul Cox of the Howard Memorial Hospital department of rehabilitation services asked the HMH Board of Directors to approve the purchase of an occupational therapy chair lift for the pool.
Cox informed the board that the rehab department had budgeted for the purchase of a chair lift and a new recumbent cross trainer during the third quarter of the year. He explained that the cost of those two items had increased since the budget was passed. The budgeted amount was $14,307 for both pieces of equipment. Cox stated the rehab department could hold off on the purchase of a new cross trainer and purchase a better chair lift for the pool. He said they originally budgeted for a lift with a 400-pound limit but requested the board’s approval for a 500-to-600-pound lift at a cost of $17,087.
The board made a motion and approved the purchase of the Bariatric chair lift.
During the CEO’s report, Debra Wright reported the Mindray cardiac monitoring equipment has been installed and the radiology staff has received their training for the ultrasound machine. Wright said the TIMS equipment, which will record videos of swallow studies has been installed and the Pocket Health image sharing platform will be online very soon.
Wright said the hospital’s remaining trauma funds will be used to purchase a Glidescope for intubations and a set of baby scales for the emergency department.
