HMH implementing sign-on and retention bonuses for certain areas

Administrators and the board of Directors at Howard Memorial Hospital are taking steps to ensure some areas of the hospital don’t encounter a staff shortage. During a special called meeting, conducted Thursday evening via teleconference, the hospital board gave unanimous approval to implement sign on or retention bonuses in a number of areas. These include RN, LPN, Medical Lab Scientist, and Medical Lab Technician positions.
The administration said Howard Memorial is at a disadvantage when it comes to staff recruiting in some cases. Plans are for the bonuses to be in place in time for the hospital’s next payroll. No specific dollar amounts for the bonuses were discussed in Thursday’s meeting.
