Hockaday Withdraws From MS School Board Race

As of Thursday, voters in the Mineral Springs School District Zone 5 will not be having a contested board election in March. Verna Hockaday and Ray Hawkins were seeking the position currently held by Hawkins. However, Hockaday submitted written notification to the Howard County Clerk’s office yesterday announcing that she is withdrawing from the race. Her letter said she has determined that Hawkins does a lot of good for students and the school district and it would be in Zone 5’s best interest that Hawkins continue serving.
