Officer arrests woman for possession of a controlled substance

On April 8th Nashville Patrol Officer David Shelby responded to a call of suspicious activity at the Southern Belle Motel.

According to the affidavit the owner of the motel told the on-duty dispatcher that the subject had attempted to rent a room but was denied due to lack of a credit card. It was reported that the owner also noticed another subject had gotten out of the same vehicle and was walking around in the parking lot. When Officer Shelby arrived, he checked 3 subjects with the on duty dispatcher and each one was either on parole. Shelby reportedly talked to the driver, who was identified as 37 year old Brandy Stanhouse. It was reported that Brandy Stanhouse told Officer Shelby that the vehicle was hers and she purchased it from someone. Stanhouse then gave Shelby verbal consent to search her vehicle.

As reported Officer Shelby had cut the can open and retrieved the bag which contained a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Stanhouse allegedly told officers that the suspected methamphetamine was hers. Stanhouse was taken into custody and transported to the Howard County Detention facility and charged with Possession of a schedule II-controlled substance. The other two subjects were told to leave the property.
