Howard County Budget Approved

Howard county’s 2020 budget was approved during Monday’s quorum court meeting.    Total funds next year will be nearly 6.3 million dollars of which just over two million dollars will be for county general funds.

Next year’s budget includes a 200 thousand dollar addition to the contingency fund.  By the end of next year, the county is expecting to have nearly 900 thousand dollars in reserve money.  The budget also includes a three percent pay raise for employees and elected officials.

Heading into the new year, the county is seeing a sharp increase in insurance costs for employees.  Rates will increase by nearly 27 percent for the next year.
