Howard County Court – Cheryl Delarosa
An update now on the Howard County Court case concerning Cheryl Delarosa. Delarosa faces 6 felony charges for theft of property greater than $25,000 and 6 felony charges for abuse of public trust. Special Agent Joe Pickett, with the Arkansas State Police Special Investigations Unit has led the investigation of this case and found the following. Of the total $501,193 unaccounted for under Delarosa’s time as clerk for the Dierks City Water Department bank accounts under her name show unexplained cash deposits, and possible gambling winnings, totaling approximately $261,000. $55,000 of which being gambling deposits and $206,000 unexplained cash deposits. Total withdrawals from casino ATMs and banks in cities which casinos are located equated to $184,000. At one time Delarosa’s Choctaw Gaming “players club” account indicated the presence of $365,000. By 2018, however, all of those credits as well as an additional $3,600 were lost. Delarosa declined to comment on these findings and has entered a plea of Not Guilty. She has a pre-trial date set for January 26th with a Trial date set for February 15th.
