Howard County JPs declares a vacancy for district 9 seat
Members of the Howard County Quorum held their regular monthly meeting on Monday.
During the meeting, Justices of the peace approved a motion to pay $32,655 dollars out of the Contingency Fund to go towards the software program that the county uses for Human Resources, payroll, and other financial aspects of the county government. This will cover services for the month of June through December of 2023.
Also, during the meeting, Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton presented to the JPs a resolution that was in regard to declaring and filling a vacancy in the office of the justice of the peace, District 9 seat. JPs approved a motion to adopt this resolution to declare vacancy on the Howard County Quorum Court. Judge Pinkerton said that he will submit a name to the governor’s office for approval.
Pafford’s Director of Operation John Gray was in attendance and presented to the JPs the ambulance service agreement and talked about getting an agreement with Howard County along with giving a copy to the City’s Attorney Aaron Brasel.
JPs decided that this topic would be up for discussion at the next quorum court meeting after Attorney Brasel has looked over the agreement.
In conclusion, Veteran Service Officer of Howard County Milton Puryear who informed Judge Pinkerton that he will be leaving Howard County, will be replaced by John Hill and plans to be the new Veteran Service Officer.
