Justices of the Peace passed a motion for the approval of the financial report for the month of February.
During the meeting Mixon discussed to the quorum about switching from Apprentice, which is a software company based here in Arkansas, to Financial Intelligence. Mixon said that after doing research along with spending 4 hours of learning FI’s program, Financial Intelligence is more advanced than Apprentice, its cloud based, and 9 counties in Arkansas have already switched from Apprentice to FI. Mixon asked the quorum to approve paying the estimated amount of $21,350 to get started with Financial Intelligence out of the unappropriated funds. Justices of the Peace approved a motion to pay $21,350 to Financial Intelligence to cover services from June to the remainder of 2023 out of the unappropriated funds.
Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton mentioned to the quorum that the next meeting will be held at the Community Center in Center Point on April 17th. This will be in observance of Howard County’s 150th anniversary. Pinkerton stated his plan is to issue a proclamation to designate Center Point as the county seat for that one day as it was originally to start with. Howard County was created on April 17th, 1873, from parts of Hempstead, Pike, Polk, and Sevier Counties. The first county seat was Centre Point and after the completion of a railroad to Nashville in 1885, the city grew rapidly. After the election in 1905, the county government was moved to Nashville.
