Dierks School Board accept student handbook changes for upcoming school year

Members of the Dierks School Board held their regular monthly meeting last Thursday.

The board accepted the resignation of Abigail Thomas as paraprofessional for the 2023-2024 School year and hired Casi Kirby as a 1/2 route bus driver for the 2023-2024 school year as per the salary schedule. The board also approved a motion to accept the transfer of 5 students into the Dierks School District.

During the meeting, each building principal talked to the board about the changes made to the student handbooks.

JoAnn Walters Elementary School New Principal Craig Dodson stated that his changes are minimal and that everything he changed was semantics due to him just getting to start with the district,

Dodson said he didn’t make any fundamental changes but most of the handbook changes came from the ASBA side.

Dierks High School Principal Gene Strode discussed dress code changes in the student handbook that will go into effect this upcoming school year.

The board approved a motion to accept the student handbook changes as presented by the building principals.

Dodson mentioned his plans for this upcoming school year, and he talked about his educational background.

In conclusion, the board approved several motions to accept bids from White River, Highland, Flowers Bakery, and three vendors: Sysco, PFG, and Tankersly.
