Howard County Quorum Court Holds Monthly Meeting, Approves Budget Amendments and Tax Levy
The Howard County Quorum Court convened yesterday for their regular monthly meeting, where several key decisions were made, including budget adjustments and tax levies for the coming year.
The first order of business was the approval of an ordinance to amend the 2024 Howard County Operating Budget. Justices of the Peace (JPs) approved a motion to allocate an additional $18,661 to the Howard County Sheriff’s Budget for vehicle-related expenses. This funding, which was received from Trexis Insurance for property damage to a county vehicle, will help cover the costs of repairs and replacements.
In addition, the Quorum Court adopted an ordinance related to the levying of taxes for the 2024 calendar year. The millage rates specified in the ordinance will be applied to the respective taxing units across Howard County and will remain the same for the 2025 tax year.
The Quorum Court was also presented with a service agreement from the North Howard Rural Water Association. Along with that, a request for funding from the Farmers Market was discussed. While the request was reviewed, no action was taken at this time. The Quorum Court noted that these topics will be revisited during the upcoming budget meeting.
The meeting was adjourned with plans to further discuss the funding requests and other budget-related matters in the near future.
