Howard County Quorum Court Meeting Highlights Airport Project and Community Event
Yesterday, the Howard County Quorum Court gathered for their monthly meeting, focusing on key updates and future plans for the county.
Treasurer Sherri Mixon announced that the county has successfully mailed the necessary documents for a grant reimbursement of $275,000 on September 9th.
Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton provided an update on the recently finished airport expansion. Pinkerton announced that the project at the airport, which included a four-bay hangar and a two-bay hangar, is now complete. The total cost was $1,360,782.05. Of that, about $1.04 million came from state funding, with local contributions totaling $325,583.73. He added that the project was completed under budget by $20,000, resulting in a $3,100 saving for the county.
Pinkerton mentioned that they also have plans for another project at the airport, estimated to cost $75,000.
Following the updates, Justices of the Peace Andy Hogg and Elizabeth McDaniel moved to approve the next airport project, which was unanimously accepted.
Before wrapping up, Judge Pinkerton announced a community meeting set for October 1st. He said Howard County Economic Director Vanessa Weeks has informed him that the meeting will take place at UA Cossatot in Nashville.
