Howard County Quorum Court votes to pursue 80/20 grant
Monday the Howard County Quorum Court held their regular monthly meeting.
During the meeting, Justices of the Peace approved a motion to pursue the 80/20 grant. Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton informed the quorum that the total cost would be $17,000 and the county’s portion would be $3400, and it would be for lighting at the Howard County Airport.
Pinkerton also presented the Technology Resources Policy to the quorum that was sent by the Association of Arkansas Counties. In the policy, it mentions what the office equipment, terminals, telephones, cables, software, and related products could be used for and what it could not be used for. Pinkerton stated that this was something that the State Legislature passed earlier in the year during their session and recommended that counties in Arkansas add this policy to each office and personnel policy. Justices of the peace approved a motion to adopt the Technology Resources Policy.
Also, during the meeting, Pinkerton stated that he received a bid in the amount of $9100 from Mainstream Air Conditioning and Heating. This would be to replace the heating and cooling system at the Howard County Health Unit. JPs approved a motion to adopt an ordinance that permits the county to purchase goods or services directly or indirectly from certain county employees and prescribing the particular circumstances. All were in favor of the motion.
