Howard County Quorum Court Recognizes Extension Homemakers, Reviews Financial Updates
The Justices of the Peace of the Howard County Quorum Court convened Monday morning in the courtroom of the Howard County Courthouse.
Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton proclaimed May as Arkansas Extension Homemakers Month, with members of the Howard County Extension Homemakers present for the announcement.
Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Agent Angie Freel also announced that the Extension Homemakers will host a Nashville Chamber Coffee event on Wednesday, May 21, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Extension Homemakers House on 2nd Street.
Howard County Treasurer Sherry Mixon reported the county had received $16,000 from the Arkansas State Treasurer through the Arkansas Treasure Hunt program. According to Mixon, the state had been unable to locate the rightful owners of the funds after three years of attempts. As a result, the money was transferred to the county and deposited into the County General Fund – Miscellaneous account.
Mixon also noted that the county’s American Rescue Plan account has officially been closed.
In other business, the Justices passed an ordinance to refund $284.16 to the Sanitation, Salaries Full-time account. Judge Pinkerton explained that the reimbursement was related to additional insurance coverage for a county employee.
The ordinance also increased the Library, Telephone and Fax – Landline account by $41.74, a credit from the April phone bill for the Tollette Library, issued by Walnut Hill Telephone Company.
