Howard Memorial Hospital Board of Directors February meeting

Tuesday night, Howard Memorial Hospital Board of Directors announced that CNO Paula Mitchell had turned in her letter of resignation and will no longer be working for HMH. Board members took a moment to thank Mitchell for all the work that she has done while working for HMH and they wished her the best of luck on her new journey. Mitchell’s last day with HMH will be March 20th, 2024. 

CFO Bill Craig recommended to the board to remove CNO Paula Mitchell from the bank accounts at Regions and Diamond Bank and add Dr. John Hearnsberger and COO Stacy Harberson to both accounts. 

During the Financial Report, Craig stated that the AP aging report looks really good. Craig said that they even had improvement on their balance sheet at the close of business, January 31st, 2024, compared to the prior year. Craig said the total cash of HMH Checking accounts which includes money market, CDs, and investments in the amount of $9,642,000. This time last year they were at $9 million dollars which made it a $646,000 dollar improvement. Total current assets as of January 31 are $15,679,000 and this time last year HMH was at $14.9 million, so that was an improvement of $758,000 dollars. 

Dr. Carla Pumphrey reported to the board that she didn’t have any new appointments, but she did have three reappointments whose packages were approved. Those reappointments were Dr. Steven Weiner for Radiology, Dr Vance Wise for Radiology, and RDN Denise Graves. There was a motion made by board members Glen Lance and seconded by Julie Rhodes to approve those reappointments as presented by Dr. Pumphrey. All were in favor of the motion.
