Howard Street bridge should open by mid-May

Opening of the Howard Street bridge in Nashville should happen by mid to late May.  Nashville Public Works Director Larry Dunaway told the city Council Monday that the actual bridge construction is finished.  Now, the city is working to build the approaches.  Dunaway says that will take a few weeks, due to the new bridge being larger than the previous one.

 The city is also looking to update the bridge on Mt. Pleasant, near Wilson Park.  Dunaway says plans are to raise the bridge to the same level as the foot bridge across the creek.  Cost figures on the project are being gathered at the present time.
