Investigation continues into a pair of vehicles recovered from Little River

The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Department is continuing an investigation into a pair of vehicles found Tuesday in the Little River near Fulton.  Sheriff James Singleton said a fisherman, using sonar to detect fish, came across a couple of objects that appeared to be vehicles.  Deputies and divers were dispatched to the area.  Efforts to remove the two submerged vehicles took until it was almost dark Tuesday night.  The vehicles were located in approximately 30 feet of water.  Both vehicles were transferred to the sheriff’s department impound yard and officers spent yesterday attempting to learn the history of both vehicles.  Sheriff Singleton said one of the vehicles was a late 1980’s model Toyota pickup that was last registered in 1991.  Due to the condition of the other vehicle, police have not yet been able to get information from it.

Sheriff Singleton said yesterday’s investigation did not lead authorities to the discovery of any human remains inside either vehicle.
