Legacy Academy drops a pair to Eagletown

Lockesburg’s Legacy Academy played host to the Eagletown Eagles and Lady Eagles Friday night. It was the second time this season the two schools have played. The Lady Warriors lost to the Lady Eagles by twenty points earlier this season, but gave a strong showing at home Friday night, leading most of the game. The Lady Warriors led at half-time 27-21. Eagletown’s girls rallied for a 57-53 victory in a game that was decided in the final minute of play. Grace Tucker led Legacy Academy with 23 points and nine rebounds. Dori Bartek pitched in with 12 points, while 8th grader Oaklee Lofton added 11.

In the senior boys game, Eagletown’s height and experience proved too much for the Warriors. The Eagles raced to a 39-18 lead at the half, and cruised to a 66-51 victory. Freshman Zane Minton led Legacy Academy with 22 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Sophomore Ethan Gallagher with 21 points and a team-high 14 rebounds. It was a strong effort by both Legacy teams in their first phase of building a senior high basketball program. The Warriors have one more week of regular season play before the postseason tournament. The Warriors and Lady Warriors travel to Hot Springs on Tuesday and will close out the regular season by hosting Umpire at home in Lockesburg on Thursday evening.
