Legacy suffers a Narrow loss to Malvern’s Ambassador Baptist Academy – Junior Boys Beat Umpire

Lockesburg, AR–Legacy Academy hosted Ambassador Baptist Academy and Umpire in a pair of boys’ games Thursday night at Warrior gym in Lockesburg. In junior boys action, the home team defeated Umpire Wildcats 39-33 in a rematch from last week. Legacy took command of the court immediately, leading at the end of the first quarter 19-11. While the Wildcats were able to close the gap, they never held the lead. The Warriors went into the locker room at half time with a 19-11 lead over Umpire. Steve Ortiz was the lead scorer for the Wildcats with 12 points, followed by Bryam Salacies with 10. Joshua Tucker led for the Lockesburg team with 14 points. He also secured six rebounds and four assists. Manolo Vasquez grabbed 11 rebounds for Legacy and delivered 8 points for the team.

The senior boys played the final game of the night, which proved to be a close one. The visit Knights from Malvern led at the end of the first quarter 10-8 and at halftime 20-15. With two minutes to go in the game the Warriors were down twelve points but began an impressive battle back. It was a strong effort that ultimately came a little late for the home team. The Warriors lost the game by 4 point with a final score of 47-43. AJ Horton scored 16 for the visitors, while Hayden Capshaw scored 13, and Leland Capshaw scored 12. Ethan Gallagher put 22 points on the board for the Lockesburg team and grabbed 12 rebounds. DJ Morris grabbed 7 boards and scored 16 points, including sinking 4 three pointers. The Warriors are now 3-0 in their second week of play.
