Lockesburg man charged in death of Texas woman after accident
TEXARKANA, Texas – A Lockesburg man is among two people charged with the death of a Texas woman last month in a traffic accident in Texarkana.
According to a press release issued by the Texarkana Texas Police Department (TTPD), authorities arrested 23-year-old Robert Culpepper of Lockesburg last week for a felony offense of racing on the highway involving death. The other man arrested in the incident is 25-year-old Christopher Daniel of Texarkana, Texas.
Both were booked into the Bi-State Jail and bond was set at $1 million each.
According to a TTPD investigation, Culpepper and Daniel separately struck a vehicle driven by 66-year-old Linda Reed on Stateline Avenue the night of Dec. 18, 2023. Reed was reportedly crossing Stateline Avenue when both vehicles struck her car. Authorities said both Culpepper and Daniel were driving southbound on Stateline Avenue “at an extremely high rate of speed” and were racing when the accident occurred.
Upon a conviction in Texas, racing on a highway involving death can carry a sentence of two to 20 years in prison.
