TEXARKANA, Texas – A March trial date has been set for a Lockesburg man and another individual who were both charged with the death of a Texas woman last year in a traffic accident in Texarkana.
According to a press release issued by the Texarkana Texas Police Department (TTPD), 23-year-old Robert Culpepper of Lockesburg is facing a felony offense of racing on the highway involving death. The other man arrested in the incident is 25-year-old Christopher Daniel of Texarkana, Texas.
Both were booked into the Bi-State Jail and bond was set at $1 million each. The two have court dates scheduled for March 11.
According to a TTPD investigation, Culpepper and Daniel separately struck a vehicle driven by 66-year-old Linda Reed on Stateline Avenue the night of Dec. 18, 2023. Reed was reportedly crossing Stateline Avenue when both vehicles struck her car. Authorities said both Culpepper and Daniel were driving southbound on Stateline Avenue “at an extremely high rate of speed” and were racing when the accident occurred.
Upon a conviction in Texas, racing on a highway involving death can carry a sentence of two to 20 years in prison.
