Members of AGFC speaks at Nashville Rotary Club meeting

Wednesday afternoon, Rick Chastain, Nate Hellums and Chesley Sigman of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission spoke to the Nashville Rotary Club and thanked them for being a part of the River Ranch Mentor Hunt Fundraiser for the Arkansas Game Wardens.

Chastain is a private lands biologist and he explained his job is to help private landowners improve their property for wildlife. He also helps with the deer map assistance program. Chastain said this program is for landowners who own 500 acres or more. He also discussed the state’s Conservation Incentive Program.

Hellums is a Captain with the Arkansas Game Wardens. He has been serving Pike County since 2000. Hellums is over 14 officers in seven Southwest Arkansas counties. He said his yearly budget is $40,000 for equipment and accidents, so the funds from the mentor hunt will be a huge benefit for his officers.

Sigman is a lieutenant in Pike County and told a story about a recent incident using a deer decoy.
