Mineral Springs police department providing additional training for officers

Monday night, the department heads of the City of Mineral Springs reported to the members of the city council.

Fire Chief Chris Hostetler was absent but submitted his report in writing. The Mineral Springs Fire Department responded to eight calls. Four grass fires, one structure fire, two vehicle accidents and one smoke alarm.

Police Chief Francisco Mercado reported his department wrote 11 traffic citations and two criminal citations.

He also reported he and his officers were taking in-person and online classes. Mercado stated he wanted his officers to some of the best officers in the area.

Mercado will be attending a week long class at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Academy later this month to become a certified criminal investigator.
