Mineral Springs Chief of Police starts Welfare Program for senior citizens

Chief of Police of the Mineral Springs Police Department Francisco Mercado spoke with the Mineral Springs City Council Monday and brought them up to speed on what’s been going on in his department.

Mercado stated that they sold a Crown Vic in the amount of $500 dollars. Mercado said it had issues and he didn’t want to put any more money into the vehicle. Mercado talked about starting a Welfare Check Program for the senior citizens of Mineral Springs.

Mercado also mentioned making citizens aware of keeping their vehicles locked and reporting any suspicious activity since the police department has taken a few reports of vehicle burglaries last month.

According to Mercado’s Report, his department made a total of three citations. One for failure to signal, one for disobeying a stop sign, and one criminal mischief. Mercado’s department also made four offense reports and one misdemeanor arrest. Lastly, Mercado wanted to remind citizens of Mineral Springs that if you are a dog owner then you must keep it on a leash or in a fenced-in area. The City of Mineral Springs has a dog leash ordinance and the police department is doing their best to enforce it.
