Nashville Scrapperettes becomes champions of the Little Rock Christian Holiday Classic

Recently, the Nashville Scrapperettes traveled to Little Rock to play in the inaugural Little Rock Christian Holiday Classic. 

On Thursday, December 28th they played against the Lafayette Commodores Varsity Girls Basketball Team out of Mississippi.  During the first quarter the Commodores outscored the Scrapperettes 17 to 12. In the second quarter the Scrapperettes added 22 points to the board and were ahead of the Commodores 34 to 27. The Scrapperettes would continue to stay in the lead adding another 26 points to the board in the third quarter making the score 60 to 37. Although the Commodores outscored the Scrapperettes in the 4th quarter the Scrapperettes came out on top and won the game 71 to 59. 

The top scorers for that game were Shalyn Lyle who scored 34 points and Jessie Lyle who scored 20 points.

On Friday December 29th, the Scrapperettes played against the Little Rock Christian Lady Warriors. The Scrapperettes outscored the Lady Warriors in the first half and stayed in the lead putting 14 points on the board in the first quarter, 19 points in the second quarter, 28 points in the third quarter, and 5 points in the last quarter of the game, beating the Lady Warriors by 30 points. The Scrapperettes brought home the win and defeated the Little Rock Lady Warriors with the final score 66 to 36 and became the champions of the Little Rock Christian Holiday Classic. 

Shalyn Lyle was the tournament’s most valuable player and finished with 22 points. Sophomore Lyris Bennet got game MVP and finished with 14 points. Juniors Shaylyn Lyle, Jesse Lyle, along with Caroline Dean got All Tournament Team.

Head Coach Paul Dean talked about what the team’s strategies were for the tournament and what the Scrapperettes strongest assets are this season.

Dean also talked about how proud he was to see some of the team players being recognized during the tournament.

Dean said that the Scrapperettes’ effort was good, and he felt like they played hard.
