Mineral Springs City Council Approves Grant Resolution, Receives Sales Tax Update

The Mineral Springs City Council held its regular monthly meeting on Monday, where several important updates and decisions were made for the community.

One of the key actions taken during the meeting was the approval of a resolution authorizing Mayor Bobby Tullis to apply for a grant on behalf of Mineral Springs through the Arkansas Rural Grant Community Program. This move is expected to bring much-needed funding for various community projects.

During the meeting, Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton took a moment to explain the one-percent sales tax that will appear on the ballot in the upcoming election, while also mentioning a property that has been receiving inquiries.

In addition to the financial discussions, Chief Francisco Mercado reported on the activities of the Mineral Springs Police Department for the months of January and February 2025. The department issued a total of six citations, filed eight incident reports, completed one accident report, and made one misdemeanor arrest during this period.

The meeting highlighted a number of ongoing efforts to strengthen the city’s community services and infrastructure, with the grant application and public safety updates marking significant steps forward for Mineral Springs.
