Mineral Springs City Council approves raising fire dues
Mineral Springs Fire Chief Chris Hostetler presented to the council about increasing fire dues to property owners outside the city limits. These dues are paid voluntarily and paid members or their insurance company will not receive a bill if they have a fire during that paid year. Hostetler stated that he checked with neighboring fire departments, and he mentioned that dues haven’t been increased since 2004. Hostetler asked the council to approve an increase in fire dues from $40 to $65 per year. Aldermen approved a motion to raise Fire dues from $40 per year to $65 per year.
According to the month of February 2023 financial report, General Revenue was $43,528.47 and expenses were $34,014.05. The beginning balance for the General Fund was $387,611.07 and an ending balance of $394,625.49. Street Fund had a beginning balance of $13,199.71 and an ending balance of $13,435.22. Water and Sewer had a beginning balance of $178,041.96, income for the month was $37,058.61, and total funds for the month was $188,048.97.
According to Chief of Police Francisco Mercado’s report, officers gave out a total of 10 citations, 7 offense reports, two accidents, and made one felony arrest. The Mineral Springs Fire Department had two drills, one call, and one vehicle accident.
