Mineral Springs School District hires new assistant football coach

Monday night, during the Mineral Springs School Board’s regular monthly meeting, the board approved a motion to add an addendum to Superintendent Billy Lee’s contract to 2026 at a salary of $110,000 dollars. The board also approved a motion to hire Paul Morrow as a Coordinator for the Mineral Springs football team and Keontae Larry as the Assistant Football Coach and ALE teacher.

Morrow graduated from Nashville High School in 2010 and attended Henderson State University. Morrow is currently a coach for the Nashville Scrapper Football team. Larry is currently the Running Back Coach at the University of Monticello. Larry also coached defensive back and linebackers. He also worked at East Mississippi as an Assistant Secondary Coach, and Henderson State University as a student assistant Coach.

Mineral Springs Elementary Principal Ruby Dean presented an addendum of the Elementary handbook. Dean stressed the fact that she wanted to have the handbook laid out in a better format. Dean even discussed bullying which is also in the handbook. It states that no student or group of students will exhibit any pattern or behavior that is intended to harass, intimidate, ridicule, humiliate, or instill fear in another child or group of children. This even includes cyberbullying. Dean also added that the elementary students should sit with their parents during any school games or activities and that this was also listed in the handbook as well.

After further discussion, there was a motion made by Ricky Gamble and seconded by Barnardo Thomas to approve the addendum to the Elementary handbook.
