Mineral Springs Water Rates To Increase
Water rates are increasing in Mineral Springs for the first time since 2006. During a special council meeting Monday afternoon, aldermen voted five to nothing to raise the minimum rate on all meters from 10 dollars to 15 dollars for the firsts two thousand gallons.
A small number of city residents attended the meeting and were able to discuss the matter. Mayor Steve Dixon says the increase is being done to keep the city in compliance with Arkansas Department of Health regulations.
The project will include repainting the water tank along with other improvements. The project is expected to cost as much as 700 thousand dollars.
In response to questions about how soon Mineral Springs residents would see another rate increase, the mayor said city officials would not consider another increase for at least 18 to 24 months.
