MS Police Department thefts from local churches
Members of the Mineral Spring City Council heard reports from the department heads. Police Chief Francisco Mercado reported his department wrote 11 traffic citations and 4 criminal citations during the month of February.
Mercado reported his office is investigating the theft of two catalytic converters. He said the catalytic converters were stolen from the church vans of the Mineral Springs Church of Christ and Central Baptist Church. He asked the citizens of Mineral Springs to report any suspicious activity to the police department.
Mercado also reported the department was able to sell the 2011 Crown Vic for $3,000. He said they will use the proceeds from the sell to outfit the new police vehicle with lights, siren, and radio. He said the vehicle will be in-service within the next two weeks.
Council members were also informed that they need to re-pass four ordinances because they had not followed legal procedures.
Ordinance 407 established the salary for the mayor at $1,100 a month, the city recorder/treasurer at $2,083 a month, $300 a month for aldermen and an additional $50 for special called meetings and $300 a month for the city attorney.
Ordinance 408, set a fee of $2.50 per month for animal control for each and every water customer of the City of Mineral Springs.
Ordinance 409, established the city’s wards.
And Ordinance 410, established a franchise fee to be paid by Summit Utilities Arkansas, Inc.
