MS Resident Addresses MS City Council

Aldermen of the Mineral Springs City Council approved an ordinance for a peddler’s permit and repealed an ordinance concerning the use of mask.

Mayor Steve Dixon asked the council to repeal the city’s mask ordinance because of the governor’s statewide mandate.

Council members approved the peddler’s permit, which amends Mineral Springs Ordinance 400. The new ordinance sets an annual peddler’s permit fee at $50.

Mineral Springs resident William Tabler spoke to the council about the city’s brown water in July. Water Superintendent Jonathan Holden informed Tabler and the city aldermen that his department flushed hydrants when they shut off the water tower for the tower renovation.

Tabler asked if the Arkansas Health Department was notified concerning the brown water in July. Holden stated that he did not, because he doesn’t normally report discolored water to the health department.

Holden reported he took water samples that week and the samples were good.

Tabler then asked if a boil order was declared for the City of Mineral Springs and Holden explained that he did not declare a boil order because the situation did not meet the state’s boil order criteria.
