Monday during the Mineral Springs School Board’s regular monthly meeting Mineral Springs Elementary Principal Ruby Dean presented the data and student performance to the board. Dean said that they are offering tutoring on Mondays, and she mentioned that they had 78 students overall from 3rd through 6th grade that showed up in the area in need of support.
Dean expressed that they’ve been doing RTI cycles which means Response to Intervention, and she mentioned what RTIs consist of along with a breakdown of each grade level.
Dean expressed that she hopes the parents realize the importance of their students participating in the tutoring program and how the tutoring will help benefit the students’ reading level.
High School Principal JonDavid Amerson said that they are doing fluency testing. Amerson also stated that they are using Mondays as make up days and they are currently having attendance issues. He also added that if students miss a certain amount of days, then that student won’t get credit. He said since he’s enforced this rule that he’s been having improvement on students coming in on Mondays to make up time and catch up on work. Amerson also reported that 11 students have accepted college offers so far and he feels like that’s a great start for this time of the year.
Also, during the meeting, the board approved a motion to accept the proposed budget of expenditures for 2025-2026 and to purchase an athletic utility vehicle in the amount of $15,876.97.
