Murfeesboro traffic stop leads to drug arrest
Last week, Officer Mackenzie Vermillion of the Murfreesboro Police Department conducted a traffic stop for an obstructed interior view near the corner of West Main and North Maple.
Vermillion identified the driver as 23-year-old John Allen of Saratoga.
The police report states Allen had between 10 and 15 Black Ice Christmas Trees on his rear-view mirror. Vermillion also reported he detected the odor of marijuana. Allen allegedly admitted that there had been marijuana smoked in his vehicle earlier in the day.
As Allen and his passenger exited the vehicle, Allen informed Vermillion that there was a handgun on the driver’s side of the console. Vermillion then conducted a search of the vehicle and located a small magnetic box containing a small clear cylinder that had two white octagon shaped pills in it, along with some unused plastic baggies. The pills were identified as Oxycodone.
Allen was taken into custody and allegedly informed another officer that he had a small amount of marijuana and a marijuana cigarette on his person before they entered the Pike County Jail. Allen was charged with possession of controlled substance schedule and possession of controlled substance not meth or cocaine.
