During the Nashville City Council’s regular monthly meeting on Monday, Finance Director Kimberly Green presented the financial report for January 2025. The total revenue for the month was $1,162,162.39, while expenditures amounted to $1,235,923.80, resulting in a shortfall of $73,761.41.

Green also highlighted that the city’s sales tax revenue experienced a decline, with City Sales Tax down by 2 percent, equating to $2,920 less than January 2024. Similarly, County Sales Tax decreased by 6 percent, a drop of $5,878 compared to the same month last year.

After reviewing the financials, a motion was made by Alderman Donna Harwell and seconded by Alderman Joe Hoen to approve the financial statement as presented. All were in favor of the motion.

Bond Attorney Ryan Bowman, from the Friday Eldredge and Clark Law Firm in Little Rock, presented two ordinances to the council related to the city’s water system. One ordinance sought approval for the construction of extensions and improvements to the city’s water facilities.

The second ordinance presented by Bowman confirmed the rates for services rendered by the city’s water and sewer system.

Following further discussion, the Nashville City Council unanimously approved both ordinances as presented by Bowman.

Additionally, the council approved resolutions to amend the 2024 operating budget and to express intent regarding the upcoming water system expansion project.

The meeting concluded with a focus on ongoing city improvements and financial responsibility as Nashville prepares for upcoming developments in both its infrastructure and budgeting.
