Nashville City Park Looks At Possibility Of Resuming Sports

Nashville City Park commissioners are expected to meet early this week to discuss the possible return of sporting activities at the park.

Last week Governor Asa Hutchinson announced that summer sports could resume with several restrictions. Those included players maintaining the six foot distancing when not on the field. Masks are to be won when not competing and by coaches and staff at all times. Temperature checks are required and sanitizing measures must also be taken.

Parks director Mark Dale said the decision has already been made to cancel the baseball program this year. There is a possibility that other sports, including soccer and softball, might still be played. However, Dale said he has questions about liability matters and the park’s ability to make sure the sanitizing is done.

Park commissioners will make the final decision this week.
