Nashville Junior Scrappers Fall to Dardenelle Junior Sand Lizards
In an action-packed game on Thursday night, the Nashville Junior Scrappers faced off against the Dardenelle Junior Sand Lizards, ultimately falling 28-16.
The game kicked off with the Junior Sand Lizards making an early statement, scoring a touchdown in the first quarter and successfully converting the extra point to take a 7-0 lead. The Scrappers quickly responded, as Bryce Ramsire made a solid return, positioning the team near the goal line. Nashville capitalized on the momentum with Bayron Murillo scoring a 23-yard field goal, bringing the score to 3-7.
However, Dardanelle answered back, finding the end zone again and converting another extra point, extending their lead to 14-3 by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Junior Sand Lizards added another six points, once again successfully converting the extra point to make it 21-3. The Scrappers struggled to contain Dardenelle’s offense, but showed resilience as the game progressed.
The third quarter saw a shift as Jr Scrapper Quarterback Jacoby Hopson broke through the defense for a 34-yard touchdown, with the extra point making it 10-21, giving Nashville fans a glimmer of hope.
However, Dardenelle responded decisively in the fourth quarter, scoring yet again and converting the extra point to extend their lead to 28-10. The Scrappers managed to add one final touchdown with Gauge Applegate crossing the goal line, bringing the score to 16-28, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.
With this loss, the Nashville Junior Scrappers now hold a record of 2-2 for the season. Looking ahead, the team will travel to Arkadelphia this Thursday to face the Junior Badgers. Kickoff is set for 7 PM, and fans can catch the live coverage on B99.5.
