Nashville Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop
Nashville police have arrested a local man on drug charges.
19 year old Khalid Benson was arrested this week when officer Mackenzie Vermillion conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle because it was traveling left of the center line. Officer Greg Parker and his K-9 partner Apollo arrived and the dog conducted an open air sniff of the vehicle. Reports said the dog alerted officers to the presence of illegal drugs coming from the vehicle. During a search, Officer Parker reportedly located a duffle bag containing a plastic holder with a substance believed to be marijuana. Police said the bag also contained a digital scale and two empty plastic bags.
Police say Benson told officers the drugs and other items belonged to him and that he also had another bag of suspected marijuana in the crotch area of his pants.
Benson has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance–Marijuana, which is a class D Felony. He was being held in jail pending bond being set.
