Nashville Rotary Club discusses Safe Haven Baby Boxes

Wednesday afternoon, Gary Dan Futrell spoke to the Nashville Rotary Club as the chairman of the Howard Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Futrell talked about the hospital’s new Safe Haven Baby Box that was dedicated last month and he shared a story that Jodi King of The Call of Howard County helped get the Safe Haven Baby Box at the hospital.

Futrell said once the foundation decided to pursue the project they used a single letter campaign to raise the funds and with the assistance of two local business men they raised more than they needed to install the baby box. He said Howard Memorial Hospital is the first hospital to install a baby box and one of only 11 in the state.

Futrell also shared the personal story of the founder of the Safe Haven Baby Box foundation, Monica Kelsey.

Next week, head Scrapperette basketball coach, Paul Dean will be the guest speaker and will be previewing the upcoming 2022-2023 season.
