Humphry convicted of murder; sentenced to life in prison

Jason Thomas Humphry

A 41 year old Delight resident was found guilty Wednesday on murder charges in Pike County Circuit Court.  The jury returned the guilty verdict against Jason Thomas Humphry and sentenced him to life in prison, which was the maximum sentence allowed.  9th West District Prosecuting Attorney Erin Hunter said Humphry had been charged with causing the death of his mother, Theresa Humphry.  Her body was discovered in November 2020 at her residence.  State officials said she died as the result of blunt force trauma to the back of her head.

Prosecutor Hunter said the jury’s verdict & sentence will guarantee that Jason Humphry’s actions will never happen again.  She also praised the work done by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and Arkansas State Police for their investigative work on the case, as well as,  Jana Bradford, who served as lead prosecutor during the trial.
