Nashville School Board Accepts Resignations

Eight personnel resignations were accepted Monday evening during the March meeting of the Nashville School Board. The resignations included senior boys head basketball and tennis coach Coach Damon Williams, first grade teacher Callie Parker, kindergarten teacher Sarah Rachel, senior high math teacher Angela Bell, coach and teacher Glennon Bobo, Karen Tollett as elementary teacher, Dara Calico as junior high special ed and cheer coach and Robert Henderson as a coach and teacher.

Parker’s resignation was effective immediately. The resignations of Bobo, Henderson and Calico were contingent upon their hiring by various school boards who also were scheduled to meet Monday.

Following a 44 minute executive session, the board voted to employ Wade Matlock and Zach Stewart for the positions of coach and teacher. Matlock, who was previously employed with the Nashville district during the 2016/2017 school year, will serve as offensive line coach for the senior high Scrapper football team. He will also have other coaching duties within the district and serve as the Drivers Ed instructor. Stewart comes from Central Arkansas Christian. He will be on the junior high football staff and serve as assistant baseball coach.

The Nashville School Board is expected to meet in special session April 6th to fill several vacant positions.

Monday’s meeting was the first for newly elected board member Tem Gunter. Jerry Wilson will serve as board president. David Hilliard will be the board vice-president and Jamar Finley will serve as secretary.
