Nashville School Board approves bonuses

Nashville Elementary School is about to get a pair of new heating and cooling units. During Monday’s school board meeting, a recommendation was approved from Superintendent Doug Graham to buy the units from Baker Distributing in Texarkana. Superintendent Graham says the existing units were installed 27 years ago when the elementary school was constructed. The district has held them together as best they could until now:

Total cost of the 27 and a half ton units will be just over $50,410 dollars.

Nashville School District personnel will receive a one thousand dollar bonus in December. At Monday’s school board meeting, all five members voted for the one time bonus, which will be given to every district staff member who was employed as of Monday. Superintendent Doug Graham said the bonuses will cost about $242,000 dollars. However, not all of those funds will come from the district’s general expense fund. The bonus will be given sometime in December. Superintendent Graham said he will make sure district personnel have the bonus pay in advance of the last day of school before the Christmas holidays on December 18th.
Two personnel hirings were approved Monday. Katie Clifton was employed for the secretary’s position at junior high school and Shirley Erby will fill a half time custodial position.
