Nashville School District hires staff for 2023-2024 school year

Members of the Nashville School District held their regular monthly meeting Monday.

During the meeting, Board members passed a motion to accept Superintendent Doug Graham’s recommendation to hire the following for the 2023-2024 school year Jace Nipper, Megan Worthen, Jewell Worthington, Shanika Lofton and Jay Carver along with the approval of one resignation for Tequila Griffin.

Graham also made another recommendation to review changes to all indexes for extended contracts. The first change he suggested was for the Administrative Salary Schedule for the Instructional Facilitator/Dyslexia Coordinator to go from a 1.1 index to a 1.2.2 index. Additional recommendations that Graham made were pertaining to hourly rate employees. Graham recommended the District Treasurer be paid $30 per hour, the Bookkeeper $21 per hour, Administrative Assistant $24.38 per hour, and the four school nurses will get a $2 raise which makes their hourly rate of $25.88. The Bus Mechanic will be paid $24.35 per hour and the Maintenance Director will be paid $24.38 per hour. There was a motion made by Board Members David Hilliard and seconded by Jerry Wilson to accept Graham’s recommendation and to change those indexes and the hourly as presented by Superintendent Graham. All were in favor of the motion.

Another motion was made by David Hilliard and seconded by Jamar Finley to approve the student handbook changes for Nashville High School, Nashville Junior High School, Nashville Elementary, and Nashville Primary School as presented by the principals of the Nashville School District. In conclusion Graham made another recommendation to the Board to approve the Tennis Court Project and the district’s commitment will be $250,000 along with waiting to hear back from Parks and Recreation Director Meghan Floyd in regard to the grant. There was a motion made by David Hilliard and seconded by Jamar Finley to accept Graham’s recommendation to approve the tennis court project as presented. All were in favor of those motions.
