Nashville Schools Recognized for Student Growth on ACT Aspire
Two Nashville schools have received awards from the University of Arkansas Office of Education Policy. Superintendent Doug Graham says Nashville Primary School received an award in English Language Arts for having a number of students show adequate growth on the recent ACT Aspire testing. Nashville Elementary School received a similar award for growth in math scores and ranked third among the top elementary schools in the southwest region. Graham recognized both schools at Monday’s monthly Nashville School Board meeting.
The board accepted the resignations of Ron Alexander- Maintenance Supervisor (effective October 10), Kim Alexander- Junior High Science teacher (effective October 31), and Terre Tollett as administrative assistant (effective December 20). Tollett has been employed with the district since 2000 and has worked eleven years at the district’s central office.
The board approved the employment of Clyde Jefferson as a custodian at Nashville Primary School and Cassandra Evans as secretary to the superintendent. Graham also commented that Transportation Bunch Nichols and himself would absorb the maintenance duties temporarily. A substitute will cover the remainder of the science teacher’s semester.
