Nashville Scrappers defeated by the Malvern Leopards
The Nashville Scrappers played tough, but Malvern pulled away late in the game to claim a 35 to 21 victory.
Nashville and Malvern battled to a 0-0 tie after the first quarter, but Malvern would score on an 80-yard run by Jalen Dupree early in the second quarter. About 7-minutes later, Nashville’s Jamarion Conway snagged a touchdown pass from Karson Chambers with one hand to tie the score at 7. Here’s the call from Bunch Nichols on B 99.5.
Two-minutes later, Nashville Tre Hopkins would scamper into the endzone, giving the Scrappers a 14 to 7 lead.
Dupree would strike again for the Leopards, tying the score at 14 in the closing moments of the half.
Malvern would take the lead in the final seconds of the third quarter and take a 21-14 lead into the final 15-minutes of play.
Hopkins would tie the score again for the Scrappers on a touchdown run.
Nashville’s defense would give the Scrappers a chance to take the lead by intercepting a Leopard pass at Malvern’s 34-yard line, but the Scrappers couldn’t put the ball in the endzone.
Malvern would respond with two-touchdowns in the final three and a half minutes of the game to claim conference win.
The Scrappers end their conference season with a 3-2 record and will be the third-seed in the 4A state playoffs. Nashville will conclude their regular season and celebrate senior night with a non-conference matchup with the Lonoke Jackrabbits at Scrapper Stadium Friday night.
